MIYNT SUBWAY MADNESS

The consistently fascinating pop songwriter MIYNT treats us to a jazzy number called ‘Subway Madness’, which - despite the title - is probably her calmest and cleanest affair to date. We’ve certainly heard those down-beats before on this year’s earlier releases ‘Letter from the Moon’ and ‘Confessions Of A Fly’, but for her latest solitary love song the Stockholm musician turns to a more retro sound. Her voice wanders over emotions, memories, regrets and a glimmer of hope, often trailing off with breathy exasperation. The lo-fi recording and bluesy jazz rhythms give the whole piece a relaxed presence, allowing the listener to soak in MIYNT’s sincere songwriting. - HT
